Land Area: 114 ha (including 6 ha of land with building permission)
Construction Area: 60,200 m²
Type of Project: Planning of an Eco-Tourism Area
Status: Under Development

The site of this new resort along a narrow valley in the beautiful Kumquat Reserve on the east of Huizhou is a beautiful setting for the program made of an ensemble of public activities - research center, club, hotel and restaurants - associated with private living areas - apartments and villas - and dispatched leisure activities - horse riding, eco-experience center, nature sports area...

In order to respect the essence & fengshui of the site, the project required a thorough analysis of the natural features including the site's morphology, the existing water system (especially the “10000 years” river), as well as preserve a rare old white waxberry tree and its immediate surroundings.

Public activities are proposed around a small pond and connected through multi-layered circulations (pedestrian path, bicycle lane, horse track) to a series of apartment buildings set naturally along the river in the main valley. All types of public leisure activities are proposed on the south, while the eco-healing retreat enjoys a very private location on the north and is made of small scale residences and villas dispatched in the mountain.

The opposite treatment of architecture with stepping up large curved balconies along the valley with a more traditional treatment for the cluster of residence allows taking care of the ecological part as well as emphasizing the opposition of scale.
