First of the 47 projects selected as landmark in the book "Shenzhen Contemporary Architecture", published in association with the Shenzhen Urban Bureau
With environmental architecture and ecological landscape as main themes, the design focuses on the local contexts of nature, environment and culture.
The ecological plaza is divided into three parts, or platforms, which are connected to three urban plazas of different qualities on the west, overlooking a natural garden along the east and leading to an existing city mountain park on the north side.
To achieve a maximum flexibility for the various programs and to have the necessary relationship with the underground parking set under the 3 platforms, we proposed an efficient structure gridclosely related to the geometry of the site.
To reinforce the overall dynamism and create a sense of human scale, as well as obeying the rule of natural ventilation so important in this climate, we proposed a series of walk-ways and bridges at different levels and of different configurations for better visual & functional connection with the landscape.
For some reasons, this park has become a landmark in Shenzhen; maybe one of the main reasons, besides its sensitive relationship between landscape and architecture, is the sense of harmony in respect to the rules of fengshui.
